Operation Blue Skies

Created in 2015 by Jonathan Gold, Owner/Director of Oak Crest Day Camp, Operation Blue Skies is a program that provides summer camp scholarships to children of law enforcement officers in need. Jonathan found his inspiration for the program after attending the Morris County’s Annual Gala in December of 2014.  Here Jonathan learned about an officer that passed away from a heart attack after losing his wife four years earlier leaving behind their child.  Touched by the ceremony, Jonathan wanted to help the child and offered a lifelong scholarship to one of his camps.

Jonathan subsequently decided to open the program to help all children of law enforcement officers whose family situation meet one of the following criteria: a family member in distress, a wounded officer, they are the surviving family of an officer, or an officer or their spouse is stricken with a serious illness.

“It’s rare to find a friend in law enforcement,” stated NJ State PBA President Pat Colligan.  “Jonathan saw there was a need and made a major commitment to take these children in.”  Gold insists that camp is extremely important for children these days.  “They get confidence in their life and are willing to try new things.  Camp gives children a ton of life skills and we’re passionate about what we do.”

If you know a family who meets the criteria listed above, please contact our camp office at (732) 297-2000.
